Buckshot Manual, 4th edition |
Our ballistic lab has been brainstorming and shooting for years in preparation for this grand reintroduction of the Buckshot Manual. We present a variety of differing buckshot applications in many types of loads continues to grow. From varmint and home defense loads to law enforcement, buckshot is one of the fastest growing trends in shotgunning.
When fired at fleeing targets and through thick cover, buckshot loads are often the ideal projectile(s) in regards to energy and complete on-target coverage. The Buckshot Manual is a complete overview of buckshot loading technique, application, stacking guide and recipes for all gauges.

What customers say about the Buckshot Manual:
"Don't forget to pick up a copy of Buckshot Loading from BPI, if you havent already gotten a copy. You'll never need another manual for buckshot again, which is where I was introduced to these HCD-21 wads." |

Very limited | 6/17/2024
There is very limited usable data in this manual. There is only two buffered 12 gauge 2 3/4 loads in here, and one of those is for the long discontinued SR4756. The other looks like a decent load with Bluedot. Data for velocity under 1250 fps is very limited. Its almost all light, high velocity, non-buffered loads.

We are already at work on an update of this manual. We will gladly accept load ideas from our customers for the future edition. Just give us a call or an email!

Limited Low Recoil Loads | 4/1/2024
The articles and info preceding the load data is very informative and useful. However, the load data using Rio, Fiocchi and Cheddite primers, the only primers I can reliably find in stock, is usually limited to high velocity hunting loads. If Ballistic Products created a manual focusing on subsonic/low recoil loads that might be better suited to home defense in an apartment, I would seriously consider buying it.

Honestly, our lab has never had that much demand in such loads. It is quite specific to your needs, which is great, but we rarely receive demand. If you can't find what you want in the manual, just give our helpful staff a call and they might be able to drill down on your specific needs. Thanks!

Its Good But . . . | 9/2/2020
The manual itself is a very good and pretty thought out with the studies of the BP Lab team. However, the manual is very limited in regards to it being very hull and powder specific. By this I mean that many of the loads call for Fiocchi or Cheddite hulls and is very powder specific which can limit many reloaders to what they can access. I feel that the BP Lab should not only focus on the European hulls that are commonly sold on the site Fiocchi, Cheddite, Rio. Yes I know that there are Federal hull loads as well, but I wish there were loads in this manual that uses both Federal PB/FB and especially many American/Canadian/Australian hand-loader favorites the great Winchester & Remington excluding the 10 gauge data. This is also the same for being more powder variety friendly. Many loads call for powders that many of us hand-loaders sometimes dont have access to because they are always out or discontinued like SR7625/4756 compared to powders that are usually in stock and have produced many heavy buckshot loads and work like a dream such as HS-6, an all around great powder for many hulls and is very affordable as its usually on sale at shops ive seen across the US. With that powder there are many, many loads you can produce with buckshot. Heck i can even send the lab a few recipes and even some that i have made and tested with BPI products that work beautifully in my testing specifically with BPI 000 and NP #1 Buck. Also another thing that can be added into this manual is hull identification charts of the different common brands both newer designs and older designs for those who have them. structure/design, old/new, In regards to quality,certain data and all around information on buckshot, I will say this. This manual is very good and would recommend it to other loaders both older who dont know about BPI manualsand beginners alike. This review goes for the Buckshot & Coyote Manual

The BPI lab team is currently updating our buckshot library. This is a difficult manual to update and it needs to address the retired powders. Expect more in 2021 on this topic - if the industry can catch its breath!

Buckshot Loading Manual | 10/9/2019
I purchased the Buckshot Loading Manual for the 10 gauge information. Very disappointing to find so little on Remington hulls, which is the only US made 10 gauge hulls I can find. Many of the loads call for MM1035 wads, which are no longer available! Also several loads for SR 4756 Powder, which is not available. If it was more up to presently available components it would be better.
- Clayton Webb, OK | ||
The Buckshot Manual is being updated with new data. It is one of our more difficult to manuals to update and the changing powder scene has made it a greater challenge. As a note: Many guys out there still have SR-4756 and other discontinued components. They get upset when we take these loads out of service. Therefore, much of ones perception of these loads depends upon what you may or may not have at home. Also, Remington does not supply us with hulls, which makes it tough for testing. Feel free to send us some with your suggestions. We always welcome your comments on new loads and areas of interest. Thank you for your input.

This manual has great info if you are going to reload buckshot. I reload buckshot for self defense and coyotes .This manual has recipes for just about any type of buckshot load you may be looking for and the loads from this manual out perform anything factory loaded!
