BPI's ExactaRoll double-pin roll crimper 12 gauge
This is our premier roll crimper design which was developed for the specifications of one of our military contractors. It meets military specifications and it will meet yours too.
We've doubled the resistance rollers to make this our most efficient roll crimper ever. The double-pin design of this crimper offers the handloader greater crimp control, tighter sealing, and completed crimps in about half the time. We designed this for a military cartridge manufacturer and we liked it so much that we had to offer it to you too. The spin direction is oriented for clockwise rotation in either drill presses or hand drills.
Crimp depths often vary from load to load, even to a point where it is difficult to produce a proper fold crimp. A compromised crimp can severely disrupt the entire combustion process, thus reducing performance or even causing a blooper.
Shotshell load performance can vary shell to shell because components such as slugs, buckshot, and full-length field wads, by their nature, are not flexible platforms. Roll crimps adjust to the load (instead of the load adjusting to the crimp) and the ballistic results demonstrate more consistent & sustained combustion. Test lab data show a more consistent propellant burn will yield improved performance.
BPI's Hull Vise and Roll Crimpers are a perfect match. The Hull Vise offers a valuable "third hand" when roll crimping.

Roll crimpers can be used with a hand drill or a drill press.
The Easy Art of Roll Crimping:
Start with any uncrimped paper or plastic hull. New, uncrimped hulls are available in almost every type and length. Once-fired hulls can be cut down 1/4" and then roll crimped. For example, a 3" hull can be cut down to 2-3/4" in length and then roll crimped. Our Trim Doctor tool was designed for this procedure.
Prior to crimping, load the shell as you would any other shotshell load. We recommend using a Wooden Reloading Block during this process to keep loads organized and avoid spillage.
After dropping the shot and before crimping, place either an Overshot Card or Clear Overshot Disk on top of the pellets.
Secure the hull. Though it does not take much force to hold the shell, this procedure is made easy with the use of a Hull Vise.
Place the roll crimper on top of the hull. Our roll crimpers are designed to best work in a clockwise rotation. Start spinning the drill and apply very light pressure. When the edge becomes pliable through a combination of heat and pressure, roll the lip down until it makes contact with the overshot card wad.
Curing: Your roll crimper will begin to cure as you use it more and more. Roll crimping will become faster and easier as your tool gains experience.
Check progress as you go along.
Cartridge manufacturer's tip: Many cartridge manufacturing companies use our roll crimper and some of these clients have told us that they like to put just a little lubricant, like the Ballisti-Slick on the surface of the roll crimper for every few hundred rounds.

Easy, fast, near perfect crimps! | 11/27/2021
I ordered this crimper a while back, I believe from Midway, before I found Ballistic products thanks to Fortune cookie 45LC, and Wade Rush. This crimper works wonders and does it fast! Once heated up, it’s just a matter of breezing through the shells. I just use a Hand drill and hold the shell still by hand or press it against a block of wood, and it works fine. Just gotta have a overshot card or make sure you have level pressure, or your crimp can be a little crooked. Drill press would eliminate that completely, but hand drill does just fine for me. Only thing that bugs me A LITTLE, is it leaves a flat roll crimp, which doesn’t affect functioning at all, it’s just my ocd at trying to make everything look perfect in my eyes. But I take the GAEP BN2 crimp finisher after I’ve roll crimped the shell, and run that around the crimp a little and it puts a nice rounded edge on there. This crimper also puts a slight Taper on the end of the shell too, to help chambering the shell. So other than my own OCD think about the slightly flat crimp, I have no complaints about the Ballistic products duel pin 12 gauge Exacta crimp. Makes loading slugs, buckshot, even field loads with overshot cards a breeze! Thank you Ballistic Products!!
Use it all the time | 6/28/2020
I give good reviews also and this one deserves a 5 star rating. I use it all the time to load thousands of 12 gauge target loads and also heavy field loads in 3 & 3-1/2 inch hulls. Its my favorite way to load 12 gauge as I can put the clear overshot disc on and see what shot is in the shell. I only wish the 28 and 410 crimpers would work as well.

Fantastic on Paper Hulls | 1/23/2016
Got one of these along with a hull vice a couple months back to crimp Cheddite paper hulls. I got lucky, only messed up 3 or 4 hulls in the learning process! I did notice that it works quicker/better when warm so now, when Im all ready to do a batch, I turn on the drill press and preheat the crimper with a propane torch for a few seconds until its hot to the touch. After that, crimping is a breeze: dwell 2 seconds on first contact, apply smooth pressure as the hull crimps, feel it bottom out on the overshot card, done!

Sensational Product | 1/15/2012
This product is amazing. Perfect roll crimps. I am using it for 1 oz low-recoil slug loads that Im casting from the Lee Drive-Key mold. Warning: there is a learning curve. Plan on ruining about a half dozen to a dozen shells until you get the hang of it, or until the surface of the crimper breaks in. Best to be used in a drill press so you can have perfectly perpendicular downward movement, and you can pre-set the length. Also for really perfect shells, you will need a vise to hold the shell. I just got the BPI 12g hull blocks and set them in my basic drill press vise, which works great, and avoided my having to buy the whole shell vise.
