Better Crimps: When loading new/primed hulls, your crimps may not stay closed if you are using a standard plastic crimp starter. The Super Crown Crimp Starter is designed to put a lasting crimp memory into new plastic, essential for tight and functional crimps on new hulls. The Super Crown also provides better crimps on once-fired hulls too.

16 ga. 8 point spindex issue. 10/9/2023
I needed a new crimp starter for 16 gauge, so I ordered both 8 point and 6 point spindex. Problem with the 8 point spindex on Win CF hulls, it would cause a dent / fold in the finished shell after final crimp, tried the least amout of crimp start, but same problem. I noticed ridges on the inside of the spindex that extended to the crimp start fins. Once I removed / filed these ridges down, no further crimp problems, regardless of what height I have the spindex adjusted to. 6 point spindex seems to work ok, but not wondering if some variability in the final 6 point crimps is due to similar issue, so I may file down the ridges in the 6 point spindex as well. Rating as 3 stars as I needed to trouble shoot / modify the spindex to get it to work properly, but no it works as it should - no problems. Note - I have been using MEC 600s in various gauges for +35 years. My 12, 20, and .410 MECs have the old style metal crimp starters. My 28 ga. MEC is the only other one I have with a spindex 6 pt and it seems to work ok.
