A must for your Mec loader!!!! | 2/8/2023 |
| This kit is a real time saver and expands the versatility of your Mec loader. If you’re machine is set to 3”, it makes going to 2-3/4” a breeze by just adding the 1/4” steel base plate under your shell holder, add the 1/2” legs under the base plate you now can do 2-1/4” hulls on your MEC. If you’re machine is set to 2-3/4” hulls you can go all way down to 1-7/8” to 2” hulls. This kit is great and really comes in handy when needed. Even if you’re machine is set to 3-1/2” you can go to 2-3/4” hulls by adding this kit under your shell holder. You can go to 3” if you have another 1/4” steel base plate or a 1/4” spacer bushing from another supplier. I highly recommend this kit to anyone with a Mec 600, Sizemaster, steelmaster, or any Mec with the same base plate layout, priced reasonably well too. I do have one gripe or peeve, that’s fixed fairly easy. It’s the 3 little tabs on the Mec shell holder that usually clip, grasp, fit underneath the machines frame base plate to hold it in place. While those tabs work excellent without the short kit installed, when you install the 1/4” steel short kit base plate, these 3 tabs now sit on the frame base plate and cock the 1/4” steel plate at a very slight angle, which in turn makes your shells sit at a slight angle. I marked where these tabs sit, broke out my dremel , and notched out my Mecs Frame base enough so the 1/4” plate would lie flat, then just put a little touch up paint on it to protect the steel. These notches affect nothing on the function of the machine or the 3 little 1/2” legs that screw onto the short kit base plate. So no biggie, but if you’re OCD like most handloaders, prepare to take a few minutes to make the plate lay perfectly flat. That’s my ONLY gripe and other than that, THIS KIT IS EXCELLENT!! | ||
