THE X FACTOR Any shotgunner who has not tried SPREADER loads may NOT be aware of the X factor. The X device is essential for even, widening of your shot stream. The X FACTOR fills in the great gap in our shotgunning when we are forced to make those short-range, rapid gun movements and then hit something. The plastic X found in spreader wads and the molded X-STREAM device which may be placed within almost any wad and then performs minor miracles either in the field or at Sporting Clays. Station eight and closer fly-bys at the Skeet range also comes to mind. The bouncing Sporting Clays rabbit quickly becomes a slam-dunk shot. Bouncing clay rabbits are pounded out to thirty yards and MORE with #9 lead shot. The trick is to utilize small shot so the spreader device is able to push the lighter pellets into spreading and the shot stream will remains dense maintaining a high pellet count. But even when used with larger pellets, the spreading effect is THERE! Clay targets coming toward the shooter, instead of handcuffing the shooter, become duck soup. Huns, Sharptail, Chukar, Quail, early hour Doves, are all volunteers for the X FACTOR. And do note BP has leaded shotshells in several gauges that also feature the X-FACTOR. The DX12, DX20 are easiest placed within new hulls. Ramming the DX12 or DX20 down into a previous fired hull can be difficult. Slight preparation of the hulls mouth to round it out does save time when seating this wad. The X-STREAM device drops into a 12-gauge plastic wad shotcup as well as the 16-gauge. Compute in your mind the X-STREAM device occupies about 1/8 of an ounce of space of lead shot when thinking of the crimp height in 12-gauge & 16-gauge. The X-STREAM device may be pruned to fit for the 20-gauge & 28-gauge by taking your trusty SNIPS and winking off the end lobes of the extended X. How much you trim depends upon if the X-STREAM is placed inside a shotcup or is placed upon a fiber or gas seal load foundation without a plastic shotcup. Go, and spread yourself. CURMUDGEON
