LOAD OF THE WEEK
Fiocchi 12ga 3” Steel
Our lab has been working more with the Fiocchi 616-Magnum
Primer. This primer is now standard in production Fiocchi 3”
and 3-1/2” 12ga hulls. It is quite a bit hotter than
Fiocchi’s Standard 616 Primer, which has been loaded in some
of these loads as a control in the lab test. The lab has
noted differing reactions to this primer with different
powders. Longshot, in particular, has shown a very volatile
change, which could be traced to Longshot’s ignition
qualities. The Magnum primer is designed to ignite
slow-burn-rate powders more efficiently – and that’s exactly
what it does. We cannot draw conclusions on these tests; we
only observe the differences when tested with a different
primer. NO SUBSTITUTIONS.
*Primer Notice: Do NOT use the Fiocchi Magnum primer in
load data that specifies the standard Fiocchi 616 primer.
